Consulting with an Interior Designer.

Consulting with an Interior Designer.

When you Consult with an Interior Designer for your home or office, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Check the firm’s credentials.
  • Check the finishes, fixtures, and colors of the Interior Designer’s office, it will give you a fair idea their abilities, expertise in coordinating all the interior elements for a consistent style, and their own tastes.
  • Talk to the firm’s previous clients, inspect some of their earlier work to check on the quality of materials used and timely completion.
  • Understand the difference between and Interior Designer, and Interior Decorator.
  • An Interior Designer typically will have formal training (College or Associates degree), and many states now require Interior Designers to be licensed to legally use the title “Interior Designer”.  They must also take continuing education courses to maintain their license.  Interior Decorators typically have no laws or requirements to use the title, and no formal training in Interior Design.
